Thanks, really looking forward for this. Many of us video content creator don’t want to change ours perfectly function rigs with just a 4-5 years of lifetime, so a hybrid solution like this is pure gold.
Considering that it’s only some sort of software/driver problem, i hope this will become a viable solution very soon.

Especially the A380, on paper seems a good choice to boost scrubbing performance with the h265 422 10bit files with just a thiny budget. Should be very useful for update workstations with old cpu intel without quicksync or amd. I hear Resolve can handle it pretty well, but there is no official test about scrubbing performance, only optimized media generation or rendering. Fields where an nvidia GPU is always better anyway.

Arc is still… problematic, even in Resolve. We are waiting for drivers and app support to include to the point that we are confident that we are able to fully determine what is, and isn’t, supported.

It should be the same as 12th and 13th Gen Quick Sync for H.264/HEVC on a hardware level, but app support is still in question.

Thats going to be a pretty good config for what you are doing. With HEVC, sometimes it is hard to know if it will be completely OK or not due to the variability of things like bitrate, VFR, I-frame distance, etc. But that system should give you about the best chance possible with the hardware that is currently out.

If you build it and have performance issues, definitely try disabling NVIDIA as a decode option in the preferences. Sometimes Resolve doesn’t pick the fastest option by default, so manually making it so only Intel Quick Sync can be used could help.

I don’t create advanced animations (or rather any animations) or projects with 20 tracks on top of each other. I’d just like to be able to play 4K H265 footage in real time without proxy files, even when graded (let’s just skip the denoiser, I know that’s out of this world).

I am thinking of assembling the following PC set:

Intel Core i9-13900K
GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 GAMING OC 8G (rev. 2.0), LHR, 8GB GDDR6
Kingston Fury Beast Black 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 4800 CL38
ASUS ProArt Z690-CREATOR WIFI – Intel Z690
Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360
Fractal Design Define 7 Gray Solid
Kingston SSD KC3000, M.2 – 2TB
Seagate IronWolf, 3.5″ – 8TB

Do you have any insight on this please? Will it work?

Thanks!
